Consider a girl that has a mass of 55.0 kg and is standing on the floor, how much supporting force does the floor have?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If the girl is not moving, that means she is not accelerating. If she is not accelerating, there is no net force acting on her. Since gravity is pulling her down onto the floor, if the above statements are true, then the floor must exert a normal force that is equal to the force of gravity.
