Jen and Jacob want to put a cement deck around their pool. Use the figure below to calculate the area of the deck. Second, simplify the area if x=4.75. Round to the nearest hundredth.

I'm sorry
find both areas by multiplying the binomials and then substract the pool's area to get the absolute area for which you will have to plug in the x value that is given
Thanks :)@kl0723
#1: (2x+6)(3x-2) 6x^2-4x+18x-12 6x^2+14x-12 #2 (3x-4)(x+3) 3x^2+9x-4x-12 3x^2-5x-12
now do #1-#2... you get the decks area
A(Deck)= 6x^2+14x-12-(-3x^2-5x-12) 6x^2+14x-12-3x^2+5x+12 3x^2+19x=?
Evaluate at x=4.75, A=to the nearest hundredth 3(4.75)^2+19(4.75)=? 157.94 units squared
@sammie2017 np ;)
@kl0723 ;p
@kl0723 is the expression for this problem: 3x^2+19x=?
that's your deck area
okay..just a little confused in the actual question it ask 2 questions #1 Use the figure below to calculate the area of the deck #2 Second, simplify the area if x=4.75. Round to the nearest hundredth. then on my paper it ask for 2 answers #1 the expression is:...............? #2 the total square foot of the deck is........? i know #2 is 158 just unsure of what to put for #1
@kl0723 i was thinking it meant the expression as in: 3x^2+19x=?
is not 158.... that is rounded to the nearest integer, you're being asked to give your answer to the nearest hundredth, and yeah #1 would be the expression for the deck's area before being evaluated
@kl0723 i must have read that wrong about rounding to the nearest hundredth. thanks for the help!
@kl0723
