This has happened to me a couple times already where my smart score and everyone else's disappear and its just a color. I was wondering what to do if this happens again.
Its called the Orange War lol.
It happens every one in a while. Don't worry too much peace shall be restored to OpenStudy
lol
Who even started the name "the orange war" anyways?
Thanks for all the help!
probably the poor web maintenance guys for OS. they must have a tough time repairing OS glitches- like a "war".
A moment of silence for the OS "Web Warriors". They fight to recapture the Smart Score Circle under the flag of OS. Once recaptured, the circle shall be be inhabited by Smart Scores.
Lol @nightwielder
But why does this happen? or how?
Just some glitch...
So even if i log out and reload it wont work right? Because i have been doing that and when i went on another device the Smart Scores showed up
That sometimes happens. Different devices get the orange war at different times.
The Orange war is over!
Part of why this is taking so long is the nature of the bug, which is unknown, and the nature of the fix, test of small changes. Every time they see it go down they grab logs and perhaps a memory snapshot. Then they reboot the servers to get it up. From what they find, they do small changes to see if it addresses what has been happening. They test those on the prototype copy of the site and make sure they do nothing significantly worse. Then they push them out to the live servers and see if OS stays up. This is probably more to it than that, but that is the core of what is happening. Sadly, because the bug is of an unknown nature and the servers are in a remote cluster, they can't just do a moment by moment track of the memory state and catch the crash as it happens. It would take things like that to radically improve the debugging process.
It is happening almost everyday @e.mccormick
How about like that the smartscores only get updated every week instead o like every single second.. Would you think that would reduce the amount of time the Orange War comes? @e.mccormick
@TheSmartOne They are loaded any time someone looks, but the graph only updates on Mondays.
Oh cool..
