OpenStudy (triciaal):

for a linear function the slope is the rate of change of the dependent variable as the independent variable changes. The change in y /corresponding change in x given 2 points (x1, y1) and (x2, y2) the rate of change is (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1) sometimes this is referred to as rise/ run for this problem find 2 points on the line and use the formula the y is the change in volume as x the length changes

OpenStudy (triciaal):

here the slope is 9/3 = 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The answer is 3? or 9/3 ?

OpenStudy (triciaal):

3

Thank you so much !!

OpenStudy (triciaal):

pick 2 different points (1,3) and (2, 6) slope would be y2 - y1/x2- x1 = 6 -3/ 2 - 1 = 3/1 = 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you . That helped alot :)

OpenStudy (triciaal):

do you understand what it is and how to find the slope now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes I do. Thank you

OpenStudy (triciaal):

great!. remember to keep the numbers in the correct order.
