Please Help Me? So I'm stuck on finding Roots for Graphs, it's Pig Latin to me.... So here we go. The points plotted below are on the graph of a polynomial. Which of the following x-values best approximate roots of the polynomial? http://media.apexlearning.com/Images/200708/27/2fa52dba-4a3b-48a5-8588-a5130a7a58cb.gif A. x = -0.4 B. x = -1.4 C. x = 0 D. x = -4.6 E. x = 1.4 F. x = 2.4 If you could explain how you got this in detail That would be awesome

OpenStudy (triciaal):

basically the roots are the x values when the y value = 0

OpenStudy (triciaal):

if you already have the graph read the x-values when the y value is 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So.... If the the Y is zero, on the graph, look at where the X is and that is the answer?

OpenStudy (triciaal):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the answer is 1.4 and -1.4?

OpenStudy (triciaal):

I can't see the graph you have

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Did that link not work in the question?

OpenStudy (triciaal):

do you have the polynomial?

OpenStudy (triciaal):

no

Err... hold on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (triciaal):

it really does not matter. what is important is you know how to find it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There is the graph. based of what you told me, I think 1.4 and -1.4 are the answers

OpenStudy (triciaal):

b and f -1.4 and 2.4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh I see now!!! Thank you So Much!!!!

OpenStudy (triciaal):

those are actually on the line y = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank You!!!

OpenStudy (triciaal):

you are welcome.
