PLEASE HELP

OpenStudy (shinalcantara):

\[\sqrt{2x - 3} =\sqrt{x}\] to identify whether it is extraneous or not, you need to identify first the value of x \[(\sqrt{2x-3})^2 = (\sqrt{x})^2\] what would be the value of x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not sure is it x?

@shinalcantara

OpenStudy (shinalcantara):

\[2x - 3 = x\] \[2x - x = 3\] \[x = 3\] since there's already a value of x, try to substitute it to the original equation.. if all the values of x that has been acquired would make the original equation right during the substitution, then it's not extraneous.. it is extraneous if in any case you will get a value of x but when substituted to the original equation would make the equation not true..

it works, so its non extraneous . thanks !

OpenStudy (shinalcantara):

yw :)
