You really have no understanding of how this site works or how it is display to your computer do you? Nothing is covering your SmartScore, rather your SmartScore is not being loaded.

Also most students have no problem with the SmartScore not loading, why? This is because they still receive help and assistance in understanding their question.

You really don't seem like you have any understanding about the topic. Your suggestions would do absolutely nothing to fix the problem. @micahm I explained in the last thread why your claim that this is the same problem is incorrect. Stop lying. There are different problems that have the same end result: they cause the notification services on the servers to crash. What has caused them to crash in the past and what was causing them to crash last week are different. As for the partial fix that is in place right now, there are a few possibilities.

Well, notice that it's only one small corner of the site that's broken. Unfortunately, that one corner is also part and parcel with certain other critical functions, so rebooting it would require rebooting the whole site, which is a delicate procedure that requires developer attention. Developers aren't the easiest thing to find these days, so sometimes it takes a bit to get the developers in place to get it done. Full automation of the restart flow hasn't happened yet (it's not trivial).

On the flip side, consider the fact that you can still use the site, just with orange everywhere. The system doesn't restart itself, but it is capable of running with bits of it going slow. It's like an airplane flying with one of its engines out--a pretty cool feat of engineering, but then that's just patting ourselves on the back ;)

None of the helpers are paid. Everyone who helps wants to be here without a money incentive. To keep the site free for users who want help, I think the best way to do that is to keep the money incentive out. Though I have heard Preetha is working on getting a paid version for askers who want quick help. I don't know exactly how this will work and if it will attract other people who like to tutor to come or not.

@micahm As I said to you twice before, if you have some realistic solution, you need to email it to contact@openstudy.com. This constant speculation and claiming you have a fix does nothing. Your earlier "fix" of turning things off one day a month is pointless and does not actually address anything.

shadowfiend is one of the former developers. I am sure there are things he would have done differently now and I am sure there are things he is 100% proud of. That sort of mixed feeling happens with any project. One thing I know the former team commented on at one point was how things were not initially made to scale well. I do not know how much of that has been changed, when, etc. However, talking to shadowfiend will not change anything the present developers do.

If you think there is some problem you have detected remotely, great. Email it in.

But if all you want to do is argue about it, that is just spam at this point.
