pick some numbers, plot them, and see if you can make some sense of what the curve is doing. for example, if we let b=2 we want to make a graph of \[ y = 2^x \] when x is 0 y is 2^0 and 2^0 is 1 (0,1) now try x= 1, 2 ,3 then try x= -1, -2, -3 can you find the y values for each of those points?
