North Korea, China, and Cuba are modern examples of governments that legally or practically permit only one political party. In single-party states, other parties and their points of view are prohibited or discouraged. Write a short paragraph discussing a country's motivation for creating a single-party government. Why would a country want to limit the number of parties in its system? @amistre64
help!
kinda confused
Well, can you answer the last question? Or is that the start of your issues?
Wait what you mean???
Can you tell me why a country would only allow one party to be public?
yes
Do it, then
Single-Party Governments: Single-party governments: Only one dominant political party allowed: One set of political ideas permitted. Sometimes countries with communist, socialist, or fascist governments: Currently in governments of China, Cuba, North Korea. Formerly in governments of the USSR, Eastern Europe, and Africa.
there
That's a where answer. WHY do they do that?
oh
umm hold on need to look at my notes again maybe it said that in the next page i did they go all mixed together so it is not all organised why can they organize it so i do nto have to look in multiple pages lol
nope got nothing on that can you help me figure that out???
Of course. So, authoritarian/totalitarian parties - the single party - don't let others in because then there is competition, and competition leads to choices for the people, which leads to democracy. Democracy is bad, because the competition is an opportunity for them to be forced out of power. By making it, most often through fear and the military, so that there is only one option and thus no choice, they secure their position of power
I'd recommend citing examples, explicitly and specifically, but otherwise, that's the gist of it
oh ok guess that was supposed to be next lesson but they put the question in the wrong spot because it says in next lesson it will be talking about why chose the governments they have.
ok what bout the second part?
Ah. As for examples, this might be something you use: http://www.businessinsider.com/words-china-banned-from-search-engines-after-tiananmen-square-2014-6
