Circles M and K are congruent, QR≅LN and OP≅VW. Find x and y. I know y=2, so does that make x=1? (Diagram below)

@swissgirl

OpenStudy (swissgirl):

why do u think it is 1, how did u get y = 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait, is Y not 2? :/

OpenStudy (swissgirl):

qr = ln qr is x+y ln = 6 so x+y=6 can you come up with another equation based on the other congruence relationship

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3x-y=10 ?

OpenStudy (swissgirl):

okay so you have these 2 equations with 2 unknowns can you solve this system for x and y

OpenStudy (swissgirl):

x+y=6 3x-y=10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or did I just do that wrong?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I combined the equations and got 4x=16

OpenStudy (swissgirl):

very good

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So how do I solve for y? Or is y 2? @swissgirl

OpenStudy (swissgirl):

Since x=4 you can plug that into either equation x+y=6 or 3x-y=10 see what y has to be
