Europeans were interested in acquiring luxury goods from "the East" (Asia and Arabia), including Ceylon, cinnamon, cardamom, textiles, and gems. many did not make when they tried though.

And the reason being is because the Europeans needed goods so that when they needed to travel they could trade their goods so that they could travel and sometimes they still couldn't because of the trades men
