Five added to 4 times a number is equal to 9 less than 2 times the number.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

PLease give me the equation I have been stuck on this for a while!

OpenStudy (gorv):

welcome to OS :)

OpenStudy (gorv):

let number is x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let number?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Whats a let number?

OpenStudy (kl0723):

they say a number... we must develop an equation for which that number is X so lets call that number x :)

OpenStudy (gorv):

4 times = 4x add 5 to it 4x+5

OpenStudy (gorv):

now other part 2 times the number = 2x 9 less = 2x-9 both are equal 4x+5=2x-9

OpenStudy (kl0723):

4x + 5 = 2x - 9 now group the x's on one side if want to solve for it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am not good at math O.o

OpenStudy (kl0723):

I think your question is to write the equation only though... do you need to solve it?
