separate it into rectangles. you'll have a 2 by 5 rectangle, a 3 by 3 square and a 4 by 5 rectangle. now to find area of a square you multiply length by the width. so basically A=L*W so set it up like this for the first one; a=(2)(5) which is 10. and that's your area for the first rectangle. now do the same for the other two and add your three results to find the total area of your shape.
