Which of the following best describes how to measure the spread of the data? The IQR is a better measure of spread for movies than it is for basketball games. The standard deviation is a better measure of spread for movies than it is for basketball games. The IQR is the best measurement of spread for games and movies. The standard deviation is the best measurement of spread for games and movies.

I have been on this question forever..

OpenStudy (phi):

just to be sure, do you know what IQR stands for ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Interquartile range

OpenStudy (phi):

in other words, as shown in your graphs. if the graphs showed symmetric (close to equal on both sides of the median, and the median in the middle) , then standard deviation is a good way to explain the spread. If the the quartiles are not symmetric, then the IQR is better. can you try to answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well I was thinking that it is A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but now i think that it is C?

OpenStudy (phi):

neither the movie or basketball graphs are very symmetric. I would use IQR for both of them.

Oh, okay, I understand it now, thanks! Can you help me with one more?
