can someone explain how to write a translation with the given parent function y = |x|. 1 unit up, 7 units right, vertically compressed by 6. Does this mean you are dividing the equation by 6? So your equation would be y = 1/6|x-7| + 1

No, its a vertical shrink by 1/6 so multiply every y value by 1/6
1/6 would expand the graph if it were to compress, it'd be a smaller number... thus a fraction
but your shifts are correct otherwise
