compare the domain and range of g(x)=ax^2 when a>0 and a<0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so domain is every possible x value and range is every possible y (or in this case g(x)) value. now when a is a positive number, the parabola is facing up and there are no negative values since you're not adding or subtracting a constant. however, when a is a negative number, the parabola is flipped so it's facing downward. in this case, there are no positive values, since again you're not adding or subtracting a constant. the x values (domain) stay exactly the same, but the g(x) values (range) change. do you know how to figure it out from here or do you want more help?
