Francesca reads 57 pages every 2 h. How many pages can she read in 5 h? I know that in 4 hours she can read 114, but how do I add an extra hour? Do I divide 57 by 2 to get 1 hour?.. orr.. what? haha

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

\[\frac{ 57 }{ 2 }=\frac{p}{5}\] cross multiply \[57(5) = 2p\] solve for p

Heh? xD

Another way to think about it. If she read 57 pages in 2 hours, how many did she read in 1 hour? Since 1 is half of 2, it would be half as many pages. Once you have how many pages she reads in one hour, multiply that by how many hours she reads.

So, 57 / 2? Then multiply that by 5?
