OpenStudy (anonymous):

Graph y = -4x2 - 2 and its inverse.

OpenStudy (isaiah.feynman):

Graph this function as usual. To graph its inverse change every coordinate (a,b) on the function to (b,a) to obtain the inverse.

OpenStudy (aum):

We know what the standard parabola y = x^2 looks like. Multiplying it by makes y = 4x^2 skinnier or narrower as the graph gets stretched along the y-axis. Changing the sign to -4x^2 reflects it about the x-axis. And adding a -2 just shifts it down by 2 units. |dw:1412885406031:dw|

OpenStudy (aum):

The inverse will be a reflection of the above graph across the line y = x which is a 45 degree line.
