OpenStudy (asevilla5):

Find the GCF of each expression. Then factor the expression. 6x^2+12x-48

OpenStudy (kobeni-chan):

The GCF is 6. Divide all values by 6 to get x^2+2x-48

OpenStudy (pottersheep):

Greatest common factor, what is it? (It's the number 6!) Factor it out and you'll get a simpler trinomial :)

OpenStudy (kobeni-chan):

Find 2 numbers that can be multiplied to get -48, ad can be added to get 2

OpenStudy (asevilla5):

to get the expression right?

OpenStudy (kobeni-chan):

yes, after that you should be able to get (x )(x ) and fill in it with the numbers and appropriate operations

OpenStudy (asevilla5):

wait if its all of them have the same common factor wouldn't it be -8 for the -48?

OpenStudy (asevilla5):

my answer is (x+4) (x-2)

OpenStudy (kobeni-chan):

well you need ot find the two numbers at this point for the factoring, 8 is one of them. You would need -6, because those multiplied together are -48, which would be the same for -8 and 6, but you need them to add up to positive 2
