HELP !! Giving Out Medals :) Simplify 5(4x - 6) + 12x - 15 A. 32x - 45 B. 8x + 45 C. 32x - 30 D. 8x - 45

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First you need to distribute 5(4x-6) what would that expand to?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

20x - 30x or is that the wrong way ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Close. It would be 20x-30 do you see this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i didnt mean to put the x in 30

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok now that you distributed it what would the equation above look like if we substitute (20x -30) for 5(4x-6)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

20x - 30 + 12x - 15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct..now combine the like terms and you have simplified

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 20x - 12x + 30 - 15 ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actually 20x-12x-30-15... Combine the like terms..combine all the x terms and all the constant terms..so it would be 20x-12x = 8x -30 -15 = 15 So we have 8x-45

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Test is saying its 32x - 45
