Help someone ????!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

randy and becky measure a carpet . becky says the carpet's length is 10 5/16 ft. randy writes "10.3125ft." did randy write the correct measurement ? explain

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[10 \frac{ 5 }{ 16 }\] it looks like that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so, you're going to want to multiply 10 by 16. and then you will add 5 and after all that, you will divide by 16. check to see if it is 10.3125

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i got 10.3125

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so Randy is correct :) When ever you have a whole number next to a fraction, you will multiply that number by the denominator and add the numerator. when you've done all that, will divide the total by the denominator to get the decimal version of the fraction.

thank you
