I need help asap?

OpenStudy (gorv):

q??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Iris has been studying an invasive population of snails. This particular snail has no local predators, so the population grows wildly. She has observed that the population follows an exponential rate of growth for fifteen years.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. Create your own exponential function, f(x), which models the snail population. You will need to identify the principal population of the snails and the rate of growth each year. Explain to Iris how your function shows the principal population and the rate of growth, in complete sentences. f(x)= a(b)^x f(x) = 200(.5)^15x 15 = 15 Years 200 = the amount started with .5 = the rate of growth each year 2. A local snail population grows according to the function g(x) = 200(1.03)2x. Demonstrate the steps to convert g(x) into an equivalent function with only x as the exponent. Then, explain to Iris how the key features of this local snail population compares to the key features of the invasive population. g(x) = 200(1.0609)^x 3. Iris wants to graph the invasive snail population to show the city council. Justify what the appropriate domain and range would be for the function f(x), what the y-intercept would be, and if the function is increasing or decreasing. 4. In five years, a garden festival plans on using the park where Iris has been studying the invasive snails. Explain to the garden festival committee how to find the average rate of change for the snail population between years 2 and 5. Describe what this average rate of change represents.

@gorv

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I dont understand it and are the first two right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@gorv

OpenStudy (gorv):

yeah first 2 are right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok could you help me with number 3

OpenStudy (gorv):

as the population is increasing we can not use negative value of x

OpenStudy (gorv):

so x>=0 is domain

OpenStudy (gorv):

min value of x =0 so min output =200

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i would be increasing and domain is 200?

OpenStudy (gorv):

yeah

OpenStudy (gorv):

but domain x>=0

OpenStudy (gorv):

ramge >=200

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what the y-intercept would be

OpenStudy (gorv):

in 4th find population after 2 year

OpenStudy (gorv):

and after 5 year

OpenStudy (gorv):

thn divide it by 3 to get average rate of change

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do I find that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and for 3. I put increasing and domain and range of 200?

OpenStudy (gorv):

yeah

OpenStudy (gorv):

gudluck :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i still dont understand 4?

OpenStudy (gorv):

what will be the population between 2 and 5 year

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do I start it out??

OpenStudy (gorv):

population after 5 year - populaton after 2 year= population between 5th and 2nd year

OpenStudy (gorv):

find the population

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i find it could you atleast show me not give answer

OpenStudy (gorv):

use the formula dear

OpenStudy (gorv):

g(x) = 200(1.03)2x.

OpenStudy (gorv):

for 5 year put x=5 for 2 year put x=2

OpenStudy (gorv):

take their difference

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok can you wait a sec while i do it?

OpenStudy (gorv):

now rate means how each year it increased

OpenStudy (gorv):

so we calculated population of 3 year so for one year we will divide by 3 to get rate

OpenStudy (gorv):

i dont have calculator

OpenStudy (gorv):

how i would tell u r right or wrong

OpenStudy (gorv):

just use calc n use the formula you will get right ans for sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 824 for 2 years

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and for 5 I got 2,060

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@gorv

OpenStudy (gorv):

subtract these and divide by 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks wish I could give more medals

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is what I put for answer Find the two number then subtract and then divide by 3 and I got 1,785 @gorv

OpenStudy (gorv):

are u kidding

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what?

OpenStudy (gorv):

(2060-824)=1226 and 1226/3 = 1785???? really

OpenStudy (gorv):

i think it will come 400 something

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2060 -824 = 1,236 and then equals 412

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct? @gorv

OpenStudy (gorv):

yeah

OpenStudy (gorv):

:):)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks gorv
