Could someone check my work? I'll give medal and fan. c: Two rockets are launched from the ground at the same time. The height of Rocket A, in feet, is modeled by h(t)=-16t^2 + 144t, where t is the time in seconds after the launch. The height of Rocket B is below in the attached image. Which rocket is in the air longer? By how much longer? Which rocket reaches a greater height? How much greater?
Upon graphing Rocket A, I have come to the conclusion that Rocket B was in the air longer. Looking at the x-axis, Rocket B’s parabola has a point close to 12.5, 0. Looking at the x-axis from the graph of Rocket A, its parabola has a point residing at 9, 0. The 12.5 seconds Rocket B was in the air subtracted from the 9 seconds Rocket A was in the air = 12.5 – 9 = 3.5. Therefore, Rocket B was in the air for 3.5 seconds longer than Rocket A.
Upon graphing Rocket A, I have come to the conclusion that Rocket B reached a greater height. Looking at the vertex of Rocket B’s parabola, its coordinates are roughly located at 6.2, 625. Looking at the parabola of Rocket A, its vertex has coordinates located at 4.5, 324. Since the y-axis represents height in feet, taking the y-axis of Rocket B and subtracting it from the y-axis of Rocket A shows how much more height Rocket B achieved: 625 – 324 = 301. Rocket B reached a greater height by 301 ft.
EXCELLENT JOB! You have written your responses very intelligently and your answer are 100% correct!
Really?! WOW! Thank you! Thank you so much for checking!!! xxx @StudyGurl14
