help plzzzz 5 reeses and 2 Doritos cost 9.75 and 3 reeses and 6 Doritos cost 9.45 what does 1 reeses cost and 1 Doritos cost???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, so what we want to do is create an equation or two that will hold the information given. So for example: 5x(reesec) + 2x(doritos) = 9.75 3x(reeces) + 6x(doritos) = 9.45

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ignore that

OpenStudy (jamanorthi):

okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you could even assign the price of the reeces and the price of the dorios their own variable: eg. --> let the price of one reece be x --> let the price of one dotito be y so the equations would be: \[5*x + 2*y = 9.75 and 3*x + 6*y=9.45\]

OpenStudy (jamanorthi):

okay then

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then you just need to solve. do you know how to do that?

OpenStudy (jamanorthi):

no

OpenStudy (jamanorthi):

which one do i solve first

OpenStudy (jamanorthi):

and how, show me plz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Have a look at this link. It shows you how! http://www.wikihow.com/Solve-Simultaneous-Equations-Using-Substitution-Method
