a. monosaccharide and monosaccharide. Substrate of an enzyme simply refers to the reactants that are either combined or are split (enzymes can either 'cut' substrates or can 'meld' them) within the 'active site' of the enzyme. The word 'yields' means 'results in', thus (disaccharide + water) are products and (monosaccharide + monosaccharide) are reactants. Substrate = reactants = monosaccharide + monosaccharide
