What does it mean for a number to be the "solution" to an equation? Give an example of an equation and its solution. Explain in complete sentences how you know that number is the solution.

OpenStudy (kl0723):

(x)^2=4 is a very simple equation, to solve it you have to take sqrt on both side so sqrt of 4 is 2.... if you plug in 2 in place of x you get 4 when squared ;)

OpenStudy (kl0723):

so what does it mean? that 2 is the value of x that makes the equation true

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah ok thank you ;)

OpenStudy (kl0723):

yw :)
