a force of 100 newton is exerted on the rope of a compound pulley, and the rope is pulled 5.0 meters. this causes a weight of 500 newtons to be raised 1.0 meters. what is the efficiency of the machine?

OpenStudy (da_scienceman):

I would think it is calculated as follows: Efficiency = work_out/work_in? Maybe?. Work_in = force_in x distance_in = 100x5.0m = 500: work_in = force_in x distance_in? Please cross check! Efficiency must be less than 100% or less than 1 as well. General formula = F_out x dist_out/force_in x dist_in =........complete-

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

seems very efficient
