How would I figure out if (1,0) lies on the graph of P(x)= x^4 - 2x^3 - x + 2

plug in x =1 see if you get P(x)=0 if so, 1,0 lies on it :)

1 doesn't work, -1 = 0 isn't true... Would I plug in 2 next and keep going till I find something?
