I need a bit of help on this and help would be greatly appreciated c: I need to know which is more expensive to create and which is more expensive to use. I am comparing petroleum and solar power. I have to compare their costs.
I can give you some info that can be helpful A typical solar panel rated at 135 watts cost about $300. not including installation and associated electronics or batteries (use about $10-$20 per battery per panel). However there is little maintenance cost except battery replacement and the life time is about 25 years for the solar panels and about 8 years for batteries. The panel produces max electricity equivalent to 5 hrs of direct sunlight each day. Assume you have 80% clear days each year. so you get an equivalent output equal to about 1460 hrs of direct sunlight each year for 25 years at 0.134 Kilowatts. This is 4927 Kilowatt hours per panel over 25 years. So for an investment of $300 plus installation and extras your cost per Kilowatt hours is over $0.06 per kilowatt hour averaged over 25 years. Note the cost for the first year is over $0.20 per kilowatt hour. The cost of electricity from a commercial power plant is about $0.10 per kilowatt hour currently. No other costs in addition
Thanks for the info but I had already submitted two days ago since no one had answered earlier when I had posted it. I answered it to the best of my ability. Thanks for trying to help me out though.
