OpenStudy (jackie4uxd):

does anyone know how to find the absolute extrema of f(x)=(1/7)(5x+8) at [0,4]? Absolute Min? Absolute Max?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

take the derivative

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you seem to have written a line equation .... its not going to be a max anyplace in the middle of it

OpenStudy (jackie4uxd):

if its a line equation then there wouldnt be any absolute max or min ? thank you for answering by the way.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

is that an interval notation? becuase you posted it as if it was a point

OpenStudy (jackie4uxd):

its the closed interval [0,4]

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if its a line that a positive slope its max in an interval will be at the right end point
