How do you add polynomials?

You add the terms of the same degree together.

So, for example:\[ax^2 + bx^3 + cx^2 + dx^4 + zx^3 - mx^4\]
How can I simplify this?
Adding, terms with the same degree, I get:\[(a+c)x^2 + (b+z)x^3 + (d-m)x^4\]
