OpenStudy (idealist10):

How do I solve for y? 2y^2-4y*sinx+2(sinx)^2+tanx=2

hartnn (hartnn):

quadratic formula ;-;

OpenStudy (idealist10):

But why is the answer in the book \[y=\sin x-\sqrt{1-\frac{ \tan x }{ 2 }}\]

OpenStudy (idealist10):

Instead of \[y=\sin x+\sqrt{1-\frac{ \tan x }{ 2 }}\]

OpenStudy (idealist10):

@hartnn

hartnn (hartnn):

no idea, sorry, according to me it should say \(\pm \)

OpenStudy (idealist10):

Okay, you know what? According to me, it should be +/- like you said. Thanks for the help.
