Starting from rest, a 2.97 kg block slides 2.44m down a rough 39.4 degree incline. The coefficient of kinetic friction between the block and the incline is 0.471. The acceleration of gravity is 9.8m/s^2. A) Find the work done by force of gravity. Ok so what I'm asking for is not the answer, but why when solving for work the equation is... w=mgsin(39.4)x ==> w=(2.97*9.8)sin(39.4)2.44 What I'm wondering is why it isn't negative? lol. if you break it into components the y component is pointing downwards right? Or am I getting the concepts wrong...? Please and thank you!
