A bat flying in a cave emits a sound and receives its echo 0.1 s later. Show that its distance from the cave wall is 19 m

OpenStudy (mrnood):

The sound travels from the bat AND back from the wall The speed of sound is taken to be approx. 340m/s So in 0.1s sound travels 34m - which means the bat is 17m from the wall - so I disagree with the given answer. IF the bat was flying at 20m/s then it would have travels 2m in the time the echo comes back - so it IS possible that it was 19 m away, flying towards the wall - but that informationis not given in the question. I think the given answer is incorrect.

Okay I was wondering why I kept keeping 17m
