the system of electrons surrounding the nucleus of an atom.

it is basically the electrons in an atom. electron cloud is the most recent model as we know it today. electrons do not spin about the nucleus like the planets to the sun... it is much more complicated and since the spin is very very fast and the particle is so small, "cloud" is the way to describe it
