Just a "curious" question... Will there ever be better technologies than HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for web development?
Well, HTML is better than HTML... as in it has changed with time. CSS did not exist at one point. These things get added to, changed, etc. as time goes on. So there will be imporvments they may use the same basic name or they may be something completely different.
I guess it is all timed based. I really just dislike how everyone thinks HTML5 is one great web technology. Seems to be that we have low standards for the web.
Well, HTML5 is a mix of several. Also, there are serious limitations on what can and even should be done over the web. Every general programming interface has resulted in viruses over the web. And tons of technologies have caused disabled people to have more trouble with what was once the easiest thing for them to use.
@e.mccormick can an equilibrium of safe but flexible code for the web be every reached? HTML5 is portrayed as flexible, but there are concerns about its safety.
Personally, I think there is no easy way to reach that ballance. Any time a program can enter your computer through a browser it opens up security issues. How big depends on what the scripting language can do. They found some huge problems over the years...
