Anyone help me finish the word problem?

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

Steve flew his experimental plane 56.25km with the wind in 45min. The return trip took 30min more with no charge in the wind. What was the wind speed?

This is what I've got so far

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

or is this it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

try again you are looking for the wind speed not the distance

OpenStudy (loser66):

Let V1 is velocity of the plane, so, the return trip gives us \(V_1=\dfrac{56.25km}{30min}\) you can calculate it, right?

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

wait but you forgot to add 30+45, because it says more

OpenStudy (loser66):

Let V2 is velocity of the wind, the trip the plane go with the wind is \(V_1+V_2 =\dfrac{56.25km}{45min}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you need to find wind speed.

OpenStudy (loser66):

So, \(V_2= \dfrac{56.25km}{45min}- V_1\) You have V1 from above, just plug in to get V2 which is velocity of the wind
