How do i download java compiler?

You would download that from the Java website. Java JDK I believe is what it is. It's kind of complicated to get working though. I could help you if needed.

It is part of the Java development tools. They have lots of different versions.

Also once you download it and install JDK, you just use your computers command prompt to compile programs.

Actually, it is so simple I would never call it complicated to get started. The entirety of instructions is like a page and a half:

Which Java compiler do you want/need?
There are several brands of compilers, see

Each brand can have several flavours, for example Sun has SE (standard edition), ME or EE

@Mcwoodman Actually, one of the purposes of this site is argument: academic argument. That is the discourse on the merits of a topic with proper support, citation, defense, etc. But you seem to have reacted emotionally, which would be a fight.

Let me be clear. I am not fighting with you. These is no emotional attachment between me and what I have written here. I am disagreeing with you on one and only one point: that installing the Java compiler is hard. I even conceded that if you meant learning how to use it was complicated that you were correct.

So if you feel any emotion over what I have said, it is yours and yours alone.

And if all the person wants is to download it, well, all they have to do is click the link. But that seems like an incomplete concept to me. They probably want to install it and use it. That too is very easy, as the Oracle tutorial on "Hello World" shows. I feel that is what they meant by downloading it and to that point it really is a set of very simple steps that can be performed with no understanding by following that tutorial. However, as I said before, after that point it does get more complex.

If you feel in any way that stating this and sharing a link about it is fighting you, then you are really reading in something that is not there.
