HELP!! Is this correct? It is order of opperations. -12/3x(-8+(4)^2-6)+2 -12/3x(-8+16 -6)+2 -12/3x(8 -6)+2 -12/3x2+2 -12/6+2 -2+2 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How would you correct it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nevermind

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got -6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How did you get that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

order of operations says do the parenthesis first, so solve this part first (-8+(4)^2-6) *math* and it becomes 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so then we have -12/3*2+2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

order of operations says do multiplication/division before addition/subtraction, so we get -8+2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

pemdas

OpenStudy (anonymous):

IMPORTANT the *2 part applies to the -12, not the 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-12/3*2 is not the same as -12/(3*2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's where I messed up!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

did you put the 0 where the x is to double check if your answer works?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the x is multiplication
