how do you solve this equation -3(x+9)+10x=-34

The answer is x=-1.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you would distribute -3 to x and get -3x. then you would distribute -3 to 9 and get -27. so then you would have -3x-27+10x=-34. You are trying to get X on one side by itself do you would add 27 to -34 on the other side and get -7. that leaves you with -3x+10x=-7. Add the like terms -3x+10x, that gives you 7x. so now your equation looks like this....7x=-7. you are going to divide 7 by 7x and that cancels to x and 7 by -7 and that gives you -1. so your answer is x=-1. Hope that helped!
