Well for the first one i didnt really have to put much thought into it i automatically took the negative numbers out of question and then 14 is bigger than 10.6. for the second one if you add 7 and 2 you get 9 so that is bigger than 8. Just plug 2 in where x is. That is, substitute 2 for x. Since 7-x is in parentheses, you want to do that first. 7-2 is 5. 2 times 5 is 10.
