He put a red frame along the remaining edge of the picture. (2x + 8) - 6 Part A: What does the expression represent? (4 points Part B: What does 2x + 8 represent? (3 points) Part C: What does 2x represent? (3 points)

x is what? The measure of each of two sides. 2x is what? The total measure of both those sides. 2x+8 is what? The total measure of all four sides. Just think it through - one piece at a time.

I suggest you follow MY line of questions, rather than the problem statement's. I'm not sure why the problem statement's author decided to ask questions confusing and backwards.
