me and my friends are doing a project and we want to know if we could use styrofoam balls and stick a light bulb in it for a solar system project

OpenStudy (warriorz13):

yeah

It is really interesting to make an approximate scale model of the solar system - if you use a ball of 8 inches diameter for the sun, then a peppercorn is about the right size for the earth - but you need to put it about 26 yards away from your sun. Try it ! It's mind blowing to realise how much of the space around us is just that - empty space. take a look here for more http://www.noao.edu/education/peppercorn/pcmain.html

thank you
