For one, physical activity releases serotonin, which lifts your mood. There's a decreased risk of mental disorders such as depression and mania. Secondly, that good ol heart of yours is a muscle, too. You don't want it to atrophy (or decrease in muscle tone). Physical activity has a very direct correlation on cardiovascular health.
