\[\frac{ x }{ 3 x-9 }-3=\frac{ 1 }{ x-3 }\] \[\frac{ x-9x+27 }{ 3x-9 }=\frac{ 1 }{ x-3 }\] \[(-8 x+27)(x-3)=3x-9\] \[-8 x^2+24x+27x-81=3x-9\] \[-8x^2+51 x-81-3x+9=0\] \[-8 x^2+48 x-72=0\] \[x^2-6x+9=0\] \[(x-3)^2=0,x=3\] the equation does not hold when x=3 so it is an extraneous root.
