HELP FOR A MEDAL AND A FAN
n a certain town, the inches of rainfall, x, on a certain day is described by two statements: If 3 times the rainfall is increased by 2, the rainfall is still less than 26 inches. 5 plus twice the rainfall is greater than 11 inches. Part A: Create a compound inequality to represent the rainfall range. (3 points) Part B: Can the rainfall in this town be 4 inches? Justify your answer by solving the inequalities in Part A. (3 points) Part C: The average rainfall in another town is 5 inches, but the actual rainfall is within 4 inches of the average. Write and solve an inequality to find the range of rainfall height in this town. (4 points)
Solve the equations: 3x+2 < 26 ------(i) 5+2x > 11 -------(ii)
what part are they for??
x<8 x>3
These are the equations you make from the question. For (A) , Solve both the equations and you will have your range. For (B) Solve the first equation.
ok, what about C
Let me take a look.
thanks your amazing
anything???
Does part c has anything to do with the main question or is it a separate one ?
there all on the same question i guess
looks separate but they just want you do get the same idea i guess
it says the actual rainfall is within four inches of the average which means it is greater than 1 (or maybe 0.5) and smaller than 4 , since 5 is the average. We just have to somehow relate all this.
omg i figured it out |5-x|<or equal to 4
is that it??? ]
is 5-x is inside a "mod"
no it is inide a um um um i can't think of the name
there brackets things that make the answer positive
yes those are mods and I think you got the equation right. It fits the question.
ok so
yeee thank you soooooooo much
Solve it and it says x is greater than equal to 1
what
yes that is your range between 1 and 4
wait where does it say that''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''
ohhhh
So did you get it ?
do you think that A is wrong then?
No not part (a). |5-x| <= 4 x >= 1
i think that they want me to so the || things on the other one??
it doesn't work
on which one , which part to be specific ?
hold on then
A
try now
nope
=\-,-
-.-
i think they want me to use the || like i did on the other ones?
Off course it will be inside mod. Rainfall in minus is absurd.
???
so what is a and b then
Rainfall value cannot be in minus. That is why you use mod on them.
ok so a is.....
between 3 and 8
no the equation whats the equation
I think you and I are talking about two different things here. Wait let me clarify.
ok
is this correct?? Part A: 3x+2 < 26 x<8 5+2x > 11 x>3 Part B: yes it can Part C: |5-x|<4 the range is 1-4
For Part(A) You solve the two equations that I wrote. You answered x<8 and x>3. So the range of rainfall is between 3 and 8 inches. For part (b) It can be four inches because the range is between 3 and 8 inches. For Part (C) You already gave the equation |5-x| <= 4. Solve it and you have your answer.
Yes that is right.
ok thank you so much I gave you a medal and i would hug u if u were here thank you soooooooooooo much
You are welcome. :)
bye thank you!!
