compare and contrast the processes of mitosis and meiosis with each other. What stages do these processes have in common? What stages are found in meiosis that are not found in mitosis? How does the end result of mitosis compare to the end result of meiosis?
They both undergo DNA replication at the start of the process, however, during meiosis the cell undergoes division twice, whereas in mitosis it undergoes a single division. Synapsis and crossing over occur only in meiosis. During mitosis each centromere splits into two, whereas, the centromere doesn't split in meiosis. At the end of mitosis two daughter cells that are genetically identical to the parent cell are formed, whereas, meiosis produces four haploid unidentical daughter cells
Tysm! :)
