B. dependent variable

i do not own this answer. it is from answers .com. This is the dependent variable. The independent variable is the one that the experimenter has control over, the dependent variable 'responds' to the independent variable and there are other variables that are controlled to make it a fair test. Example: An experimenter is generating freezing curves for water. Every 5 min she takes the temperature of the water. The dependent variable will be the temperature, the independent variable is the time (she chose the 5 min intervals) and control variables might be volume of water is kept the same each trial, the freezing mechanism, the container material is kept the same.
