What value of m makes the equation true? [–6 + (–13)] + 8 = –6 + (m + 8)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

m =

OpenStudy (gorv):

-6-13+8=-6+m+8 -19+8=2+m -11=2+m -11-2=m m=-13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, to find this out, we must isolate m. To do this, you must first do distribuative property, to get (-6 + -13) + 8 = -6 + m + 8. Then, you simplify everything, to get -11 = m + 2. Then, you take away the two from the right side, to get -13 = m, or m = 13.
