I WILL MEDAL IF SOLVED! It takes 10 men 10 hours to build a certain wall. How long does it take 5 men to build the same wall?

OpenStudy (perl):

use equation distance = rate * time

OpenStudy (perl):

1 wall = (Rate of ten men) * 10 hours

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plz explain.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It takes them 1/10 of an hour? I thought it was 10 hours.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

stap confuzzling meh.

OpenStudy (perl):

woops I meant

OpenStudy (perl):

ok do you agree that 1 wall = (rate of ten men) * 10 hours

OpenStudy (perl):

so rate of ten men = 1/10 wall per hour

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I see.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whtz a proportion?

OpenStudy (perl):

if 5 men build the wall, you have half the people to contribute, so the rate is cut in half. so you need to multiply by 2 the time to complete a wall

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so, itz 10 times 2?
